NOT WITHOUT YOU(2009)

I watched this show last night. It's simple, it's beautiful, it's heart wrenching. A man goes about trying to register himself as the birth father of his daughter so that she can go to school. Along the way, he finds himself entangled in all the numerous bureaucratic red tape on the way, being transferred from one department to another, making trips trans island to find out nothing has changed...

The entire film is shot in black and white, and the diving scenes in the show were really realistic, and it shows the true reality of life on screen than the usual movie cliches where everything goes the right way. It was an entry for the 2009 Academy Awards and it had won Best Picture and Best Director.

Taiwanese filmmakers always had to think out of the box in order to compete with the Hong Kong directors to get Taiwanese audiences to watch and support local films. This is another example, no doubt.

Some of the scenes in the show told simply, and yet expresses much emotion. There is not a whiff of romantic entanglement here, only the love for a father has for his own daughter.

Some shows are not meant to be watched with your Significant Other, and this is one of them.
