BREAKFAST AT TIFFANY'S(1961)

I can't remember when as the last time I watched a film. Neither do I know why I want to watch such an old show.

Here we are

Finally I watched it. They changed the ending from the novel. In the novel Holly leaves for Brazil and Paul only receives word that she is doing fine. Tiffany's isn't a restaurant or a shop selling food. It's the giant jeweler's chain from New York. Breakfast at Tiffany's (to Holly) was to stand at Tiffany's store display window in the early morning, holding a coffee and a bagel, looking at all the beautiful necklaces and bracelets at in the display.

To some extent Holly Golightly is a country girl, trying to break free from her past, finding a rich man to marry. Thus she moves to New York and begins her life as a solitaire, entertaining people, rubbing shoulders to the rich and famous. She then takes on to her new neighbor Paul and calls him "Fred", given that Paul takes after her beloved brother Fred so much. She's absent-minded (keeps losing her keys, makes Mr Yoshinoya unlock the door for her; shuts the phone away in a suitcase cause she didn't like the sound... )In some way you can say she's needy and dependent. But she's also brave and independent to runaway from home, and to live in New York all by herself. Her character is something to be debated upon, but being neither good nor evil in this show, it doesn't matter. There is no definitive "Bad guy" drawn out here, it's just a simple story about a girl and her neighbor.

I guess in the 1960s, people liked stories with happy endings. Paul goes about showing Holly that he loves her for at least 5 times in the film, and Holly never believed him, only for the last time(before the show ends).

A set cast picture of Holly and "Fred"(Paul). Dang I didn't know Paul was such a looker. Why'd the hell did she insist on looking for a rich guy to marry when she can have a handsome one who loves her like him. Why?

They don't make guys like that anymore.*sigh*
