The Artist

Went to watch the Artist today with a friend. I love it, it's black, white, silent and the music is fabulous. And plenty of heart to heart before that.

Also, Uggie the dog is very cute and deserves a nomination, even though he is not human. So does his trainer.

It made me think about my life. Sometimes we are at the top of the world. Everything is going according to plan, we have the power to do what we want, nothing seems to go wrong.

Sometimes we are at the bottom. Life's in a mess, everything comes out as a failure and nothing seems to work. Change is constant, and there is no way for us to stand still and hold on to what we have.

And believe it or not, there is no dialogue until the very end of the show. I just realized how much I depend on hearing the words of others to find out what is going on rather than to read their body language or facial expressions. And that show didn't have a cue card for every dialogue, they were only used when it was important. Their expressions and gestures told the story more than words.

It got me thinking, how much we value hearing words from the mouth of others rather then to listen to what they were not saying. And whatever is unsaid usually tells the bigger picture of what's really going on. I guess I take the word for it too easily.

Life might not be all that spectacular or glamorous, but the one well-lived is undoubtedly the true life of an artist.
