THE KING'S SPEECH(2010)

Finished the King's Speech at last. I never had a stammer, or I don't remember one, so I can't imagine how is overcoming a stammer like. Sometimes I tend to trip over my words, but being unable to completely express myself, is something yet to experience.

The casting is brilliant. Firth turns into a prince with a speech impairment, and Bonham-Carter is the ever so patient and understanding wife to the prince. Rush turns into a speech therapist whose unlikely formula of diaphragm strengthening exercises not only gives strength to his diaphragm, but also mysteriously got rid of the prince's not so obvious flabby tummy. (I must go try them for myself.) I had no idea they could act like that rather convincingly as well.

The show stands a close to 2 hours, and there a couple of scenes our Duke of York swears rather colorfully, so please do not show this to anyone below the age of 12-14. You don't want to hear them repeating such things over and over like a commonly used word. It's disgusting.

Other than the constant bit of swearing, the plot is loosely based on the fact the King George VI had to overcome a stutter and had a speech therapist to help him, and examines the strange friendship between them.

Overall, it's quite an enjoyable show, watch it when you have time to kill or you're feeling rather British lately. (I don't know what that means)
